The Andritz solution involves channel screening, clarifying, automated flocculant and coagulant dosing, and sludge dewatering. Andritz’s scope of supply also covers field instruments, tanks, agitators and process pumps as well as installation and service support after commissioning. Start-up is scheduled for the first quarter of 2023.
The key equipment will have a special surface coating to protect against the harsh coastal environment at the Workington mill.
The mill is completely replacing the existing primary effluent treatment plant to improve the efficiency of the system and reduce the level of total suspended solids (TSS) in the outfall.
